As groundworks veterans covering locations throughout Kent, Surrey and Sussex – including busy towns such as Cranleigh, Horsham, Midhurst, Petworth and Pulborough – one of our main areas of specialism is the construction of high quality building foundations for domestic, commercial and industrial developments. Working with materials we’ve learned to trust over our 35 years in the industry, and carefully selected plant which helps expedite even the most demanding of works, we use modern construction techniques to ensure you have the perfect base to build up out of.
Strip Foundations – Strip foundations consist of continuous strips of concrete that support load-bearing walls. They are typically used in low-rise structures where the soil is stable and capable of bearing the load. These building foundations are ideal for residential buildings, small commercial structures, and extensions in development around Cranleigh, Horsham, Midhurst, Petworth and Pulborough.
Trench Fill Foundations – A versatile approach which involves digging a trench along the building perimeter and filling it with concrete. These building foundations are suitable for sites with adequate soil bearing capacity, providing a stable base for the structure. You’ll find them commonly employed for residential and commercial buildings where shallow foundations are sufficient.
Rubble Trench Foundations – Rubble trench foundations, as the name suggests, utilise rubble or stone-filled trenches to support the building's weight. They are cost-effective and environmentally friendly, making them suitable for low-cost housing projects or structures in remote areas. These building foundations are particularly useful in areas with expansive clay soils, which can often be found in and around Cranleigh, Horsham, Midhurst, Petworth and Pulborough.
Pad Foundations – Not too dissimilar to concrete bases, another form of foundation we specialise in, pad foundations consist of individual concrete pads that support isolated columns or posts. They are used when the load from the structure is concentrated at specific points. These building foundations excel in distributing such loads load efficiently, preventing settlement and ensuring structural integrity.
Raft Foundations – Raft foundations, also known as mat foundations, spread the building's load across a wide area, effectively "floating" on the soil. They are used in areas with poor soil conditions or where differential settlement is a concern. These building foundations are commonly employed for high-rise buildings, warehouses and industrial facilities, providing stability and reducing the risk of structural damage.
Pile Foundations – Pile foundations involve driving or drilling vertical columns (piles) into the ground to support the structure's weight. Our groundworks team will often employ them on Cranleigh, Horsham, Midhurst, Petworth and Pulborough sites with weak or variable soil conditions, transferring loads to deeper, more stable layers or bedrock. Pile foundations are essential for tall buildings, bridges, and structures located in coastal areas or regions with soft soil.
